DENVER (CBS4) – Gov. John Hickenlooper welcomed former President Bill Clinton to the stage Tuesday morning at the Sheraton downtown.

The Clinton Global Initiative is having its annual CGI America meeting in Denver this week. The Clinton Foundation brings together businesses, government, nonprofits and philanthropists to look for solutions for economic growth and social mobility.

Clinton noted how Hickenlooper was all dressed up.

“You know he always impressed me about how he could be so substantive and issue-oriented and so informal,” Clinton said. “And I felt almost guilty that he felt constrained to wear a suit today.”

The meeting comes at a time when the foundation is being looked at closely as Hillary Clinton runs for president. She’s faced criticism about the Global Initiative’s transparency and connections with foreign donors.
