SIMLA, Colo. (CBS4) - Tornadoes in Elbert County Thursday night severely damaged one home and caused damage to five others.

No injuries were reported to any people, but a cow was hurt and will have to be euthanized.

The first tornado touched down two different times near the town of Simla. The first touchdown was at 5:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Then another tornado touched down at approximately 6:20 p.m. and stayed on the ground for about 10 minutes. That was near the town of Kutch.

The tornado ripped the roofs off some of the buildings, and large hail that came with the storms also caused heavy damage.

Verne Carlson, a storm chaser, showed CBS4 partner KKTV the damage to his pickup caused by the tornado.

"It took the topper off my truck. Up into the air. It took out the sideview mirror, took the tail gate off in the winds," Carlson told KKTV.
