George Karl Returns To Pepsi Center With Mixed Feelings

DENVER (CBS4)- Former Denver Nuggets Coach George Karl returns to the Pepsi Center with mixed feelings as the Sacramento Kings prepare to take on the Nuggets.

Sunday's game is the first game back for Karl. He still gets emotional when talking about leaving Denver when he was forced out two years ago.

He said he wanted to retire from Denver and expects that the game will bring back some memories.

As for the Nuggets downfall since he was fired, Karl said he is not surprised.

"When they fired me I said, 'I don't think you understand how crazy this is going to end up.' I said those exact words to Josh, 'You don't understand what is going to happen.' My love for what we had was a connection, I have been in the league a long time and that team had a connection that no other team I ever coached had," said Karl.

Karl led Denver to nine consecutive playoff appearances and his 423 victories in eight-plus seasons were just shy of matching Doug Moe's team-record 432.

The Kings take on the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
