University Of Colorado Selects Dean For New Media College

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - The University of Colorado has announced the founding dean for its new College of Media, Communication and Information on the Boulder campus.

In a statement released Wednesday, CU said it has appointed Lori Bergen to the position. She is currently the dean of the College of Communication at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

Bergen has been a dean at Marquette's communication school since 2009.

"I am excited by the chance to lead this new college," Bergen said. "The college will establish a new standard for teaching and scholarship in communication, media and information, and I'm looking forward to being a part of that."

Last June, the CU Board of Regents approved the formation of the new College of Media, Communication and Information. It was the first new college or school created at CU Boulder in more than 50 years. Departments will include journalism, public relations, advertising and communication. Bergen will begin her new job in Boulder in July.
