Police Search For Suspects Wanted In Facebook Stabbing

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Longmont have identified one of the men men wanted for stabbing a man over Facebook postings.

Police rushed to reports of a stabbing at 333 23rd Avenue about 9 p.m. Wednesday. Officers discovered a 25-year-old male victim who had been stabbed four times.

The victim told police he was attacked after a disturbance escalated over Facebook posts. He was rushed to Longmont United Hospital where he underwent surgery for injuries not considered life-threatening.

Police are searching for Mitchell Lee Mailand, 29, wanted for first-degree assault. Mailand is described as a white male, 6-foot-3, 170 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. Bond for Mailand has been set at $50,000.

The other suspect has not been identified but has been described as an Hispanic male with a thin mustache, possibly named Devon or Darian. He has a darker skin tone, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 with gelled hair. He also had a six-inch black fixed-blade knife and is believed to be the one who stabbed the victim.

Police said that Mailand and the other man went to the victim's apartment to confront him. The victim was pulled from his apartment where he was stabbed by one of the suspects.

Mailand and the other suspect may live in the Denver or Lakewood area. Mailand may be driving a 4-door, 2000 Buick LaSabre like the one pictured below, with Colorado license plate 632-VQI.
