Man With Gun Who Entered School Caught In Scuffle With Officer
FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. (CBS4)- The man who allegedly ran into a school auditorium with a gun was arrested after he got into a scuffle with an officer before he was arrested.
Gilberto Velasquez-Carnero, 18, was placed in police custody after allegedly walking into a Federal Heights high school with a revolver on Wednesday afternoon.
Velasquez-Carnero was spotted acting suspicious outside Pinnacle High School at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday. School officials chased him into the school auditorium, but he was able to get away.
Police caught up to Velasquez-Carnero a few blocks away at a cell phone store where surveillance video shows that he got into a scuffle with an officer. The teen ran from the officer. Police finally took him into custody a short time later.
"The subject had a 22 caliber revolver in his possession at the time of the arrest," police said in a statement.
Velasquez-Carnero is being held in the Adams County Jail.
The school was placed on lockdown during the search. No students were hurt.
