DU Lacrosse Completes Classic Comeback Against No. 3 Notre Dame In Front Of Sold Out Crowd

DENVER (CBS4) - University of Denver lacrosse, celebrating their 50th season this year and ranked fourth in the nation, hosted their first-ever Top 5 matchup at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday against No. 3 Notre Dame.

The Fighting Irish had won five of the last six matchups. The Pioneers trailed 10-7 heading to the fourth quarter before DU sophomore Zach Miller scored the game-tying goal with 1:19 in regulation.

Miller then scored the game winner in overtime to give the Pioneers an 11-10 win in front of a sold out crowd.

"We couldn't try to get them all back at once ... there are no field goals or touchdowns in lacrosse. It's going to be one at a time," DU head coach Bill Tierney said. "Give the kids credit … it's exciting to see a guy like Zach score a winner in overtime and outscore a great team 3-0 in the fourth quarter. But this game was won by our defense."

Miller had four goals in the game.
