DIA Celebrates 20th Anniversary With Mayoral Recordings
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver International Airport turns 20 years old this month, and is celebrating the anniversary with a collection of new recordings on terminal-concourse trains.
Passengers will now be greeted by the voice of four different Denver mayors welcoming them to the city and congratulating DIA on its 20th anniversary.
Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, former U.S Secretary of Transportation and Denver's 41st Mayor Federico Peña, Denver's 42nd Mayor Wellington Webb, and Denver's 43rd Mayor and current Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper have all recorded messages for the airport.
DIA opened on Feb. 28, 1995 and now serves approximately 53 million travelers a year, generating $26.3 billion annually and supporting 188,338 jobs.
The Train Call feature hosts voices of local celebrities and government officials who highlight local events and the wonder of Colorado.
Mayor Michael Hancock's recording reads, "Welcome to Denver. This is Mayor Michael Hancock. I'd like to extend my congratulations to Denver International Airport on its 20th anniversary year. Thank you for making us America's favorite connecting hub where the Rocky Mountains meet the world."
