DENVER (CBS4) – Former NBA champion and Denver Nuggets guard Chauncey Billups has received quite an honor.

Billups, who grew up in Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood, will be the grand marshal for the National Western Stock Show & Rodeo Parade next month.

The parade takes place on Jan. 8 and runs down 17th Street.

Billups retired from the NBA in September. He won a title with the Detroit Pistons and was the MVP of the 2004 finals.

Before the NBA, Billups was a star for George Washington High School’s basketball team and for the University of Colorado Buffaloes.
