Hundreds Of Fort Carson Soldiers Return Home This Weekend

FORT CARSON, Colo. (CBS/AP) - About 150 soldiers returned home Saturday morning from a deployment in Afghanistan.

The members of the fourth infantry division were originally scheduled to return in December, but they came home early as part of a phased reduction of troops in Afghanistan.

Another 100 soldiers who were serving in Kuwait are scheduled to return to Fort Carson early Sunday morning.

They were among about 2,500 soldiers from the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division who were deployed in September and will be the last from the combat team to return to Fort Carson.

The soldiers partnered with the Kuwaiti Armed Forces to help with security cooperation, joint exercises and training. Their homecoming ceremony will be held at the Special Events Center on post at 5 a.m. Sunday.
