Man Fatally Shot By Security Guard At Westminster Apartment Complex
WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) – Police in Westminster are investigating after a man was apparently shot to death by a security guard at an apartment complex early Saturday morning.
According to Wayne Read with Westminster police, the shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Sunset Ridge Apartments located at 8300 North Sheridan Boulevard at approximately 1:25 a.m.
"Witnesses reported a man had been shot by a security guard on the property," Read said in a statement.
When officers arrived they found a man had been shot. He was taken a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
"Witnesses reported the security guard was retreating and attempted to get behind cover after recognizing the individual had a weapon," Read said. "The individual allegedly had a handgun, raised it, and pointed it at the security guard. The security guard fired his weapon, striking this individual."
No names have been released.
