DU Lacrosse Ready To Quiet East Coast Fans With Win Over Drexel

DENVER (CBS4) - The University of Denver Pioneers are in the NCAA lacrosse tournament for the fifth straight year, proving that they are now a powerhouse in the sport.

The Pioneers are now a staple in the Top 25 every year. That's the culture head coach Bill Tierney brought to Denver.

DU easily is the best lacrosse program west of the Mississippi River and holding its own against the East Coast giants such as the North Carolina Tar Heels, who they knocked out of the tournament last week.

This weekend the Pioneers meet Drexel University in the quarterfinals on Sunday in Delaware. It will be like a home game for Drexel, which is located in Philadelphia.

"We're very good when everyone is against us in the crowd and stuff like that, so we're looking forward to this opportunity this weekend because Drexel and Delaware are pretty closes places, so they're obviously going to have more fans than us," DU midfielder Jeremy Noble said. "I think we're okay with that."

Sunday's game will be televised live on ESPNU/WatchESPN.com and will also be available on 102.3 ESPN Radio.
