Parents Hire Prominent Attorney To Find Answers About Son's Death

GUNNISON, Colo. (CBS4) - A family is in search for answers after last month's death of a college student in Gunnison.

Dammion Heard's body was found hanging several miles east of Gunnison. The parents of the Western State Colorado University freshman were told by police their son committed suicide. They've hired prominent attorney Pamela Mackey who represented Kobe Bryant during his sexual assault trial in Eagle County.

Heard's parents say the fact that their son was in a fight at a party the night before he disappeared could hold clues.

"I think we're going to find out that it was staged to look like a suicide to cover up an accident or something intentional," Heard's father Gary Heard said. "Finding a body hanging in a tree is not proof that it's suicide."

The championship wrestler had a passion for the sport and his parents say a passion for life.

"Just got to suck it up for now and get through this for my son. He was a strong man, not a quitter. I'm not going to quit on him."

The family has collected more than $25,000 in reward money for information leading to an arrest.
