U.S. 36 Closed Saturday Between Interlocken Loop And McCaslin Blvd.

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4)- As part of the U.S. 36 Express Lanes Project both directions of the highway will be closed overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.

The closure will be along U.S. 36 in both directions between Interlocken Loop and McCaslin Boulevard from 10 p.m. Saturday until 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

The closure will allow crews to demolish a utility structure that was built across U.S. 36. The structure currently carries an irrigation pipe across the highway. It will eventually be replaced with a bridge that will carry the pipe as well as a segment of the project's new bikeway across the highway.

Drivers are encouraged to detour at Northwest Parkway West to West Dillon Road to McCaslin Blvd. to get around the closure.

The U.S. 36 Express Lanes Project will build an express lane in each direction on the highway. The lanes will accommodate high occupancy vehicles, bus rapid transit and tolled single occupancy vehicles. In addition the project will replace several bridges, build a commuter bikeway and add bus rapid transit improvements.
