ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) – Fire investigators in Arvada say arsonists set two fires within 48 hours.

The most recent fire happened early Monday morning.

Around 1 a.m. Alicia Lucero's 2-month-old son woke up crying.

"My grandma woke up to feed my son. She went out to throw the diaper outside and she saw the house in flames," said Lucero.

She immediately called 911 and then took photos as the fire gutted the vacant house next door.

"When I came out the whole house was in flames," said Lucero.

Saturday morning another arson fire broke out a few miles away at Terrace Park. Three people wearing hooded sweatshirts were seen running from the area.

Scott Pribble with Arvada Fire says it's too early to say if a serial arsonist is at large.

"We're going to take a look at everything. My gut feeling says no, but we're going to take a look at everything and see if they're related or not," said Pribble.

Lucero is thankful her family was not affected by the fire and hopes an arsonist isn't responsible.

"It's just crazy. I can't believe if it is arson that somebody would do that to our neighborhood with kids and everybody living here. It's terrible," said Lucero.
