DENVER (CBS4) - A fugitive is on the run after sources tell CBS4 the man robbed a bank and rode off in a cab just after being released from prison.

Edgar Bezirganya, the driver for Metro cab, had just dropped off one passenger on Tuesday morning and was approached by another near the intersection of Federal and Yale.

"He came to me and asked me to get a ride to downtown," Bezirganya told CBS4.

The new customer wanted to go downtown but first said he needed cash. As Bezirganya waited for him at a US Bank at Broadway and Mississippi his passenger allegedly robbed the bank.

Bezirganya then dropped the man off at an RTD station at the intersection of Broadway and Interstate 25. He paid with a $100 bill for a $23 fare.

Bezirganya says had no idea about the bank robbery until hours later.

Sources say the passenger was Robert Gil Estes, 59. The U.S. Marshall's office now considers Estes a wanted fugitive because he was released from Englewood Prison Tuesday morning and failed to report to a halfway house near Federal and Yale.

The U.S. Marshall's office is offering a $2,500 cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call (877) WAN-TED2.
