Rist Canyon Residents Clean Up From Mudslides

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- People living in Rist Canyon near the High Park burn area are cleaning up after mudslides left a mess.

People living in the Poudre Park area experienced mudslides Thursday night after heavy rain storms dumped in that area.

They said they had never seen a storm this intense.

"Just piling up and splintering and the windows were going everywhere and the walls. It was pretty loud and chaotic," said one resident.

Backhoes were brought in to help move some of the mud and debris that washed onto property.

The High Park burn area is a prime location for mudslides since last year's devastating fire left thousands of acres without vegetation.

The storm forced the closure of Highway 14 in Poudre Canyon for a while until crews could remove the mud and debris. No one was injured.
