Man Charged In Cold Case Car Robbery
DENVER (CBS4)- A man has been arrested in connection with an aggravated vehicle robbery that happened more than two years ago.
Gilbert Vega-Castellano has been charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated motor vehicle robbery and crime of violence for the March 9, 2011 incident.
Police believe Vega-Castellano, 22, approached the victim's vehicle with what appeared to be a hand gun tucked into his waistband.
Then he allegedly forcefully removed the victim from the vehicle and drove away.
The case remained unsolved until Vega-Castellano's arrest last year on an unrelated case in Adams County. His DNA was collected pursuant to Katie's law where he was then identified as a suspect in the case.
He remains in custody on $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on June 28 for his second advisement.
