DENVER (CBS4) – John Fox, the head coach of the Denver Broncos, said he expects that George Karl “will land on his feet quickly.”

Fox said he’s “very familiar” with Karl, who will not be coaching the Nuggets next year, the team announced Thursday morning.

“Obviously he’s a very busy man and so was I. So we’ve been in contact since I’ve been here. He’s a Dean Smith guy. I went to a breakfast very early on when I first came to Denver, a charity event down at the Pepsi Center,” Fox told reporters at the Broncos team headquarters shortly after the news about Karl was made public.

When a reporter asked Fox about how much job security coaches of pro teams really have, he said the following:

“It depends on what you’re talking about, if you’re talking about job security or game-to-game. You just do the best you can do, and hopefully it’s good enough.”
