Cadets Graduate From The Air Force Academy

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Hundreds of cadets graduated from the Air Force Academy on Wednesday with more than 20 percent of the newly minted Second Lieutenants being women.

The 1,024 cadets graduated on Wednesday afternoon as Air Force Secretary Michael Donley delivered the commencement address.

He talked about the sexual assault scandal rocking the military. He also told the cadets they must take an active role in changing the Air Force.

"Each of you is responsible for the character of this Air Force and its reputation. And I therefore charge you to serve with integrity and by your example to lead, to do and to say what is right by our Air Force," said Donley.

Hundreds of new graduates go on to pilot training and a 10-year active duty commitment.

Others serve in the Air Force in a variety of positions.
