Summit Being Held On Beetle-Killed Trees

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - Business leaders and elected officials are meeting to discuss efforts to deal with beetle-killed pine trees in Colorado.

The meeting in Golden on Monday will also recognize successes in dealing with the devastation caused by beetles, including Brookfield Homes, which plans to use the blue-stained wood to build homes in Clear Creek.

Since the first signs of the outbreak more than a decade ago, the infestation has grown to nearly 3.4 million acres, or roughly 5,300 square miles.
