Search Nets 'Armed & Dangerous' Man In West Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police have arrested a wanted man who they said was armed and dangerous.

Officers were in West Denver on Sunday searching for David Shane Gosik, 34, at an apartment complex at Hampden Avenue and Harlan Street. He's got warrants for felony possession of weapons and burglary. He was spotted by police and ran into the apartment complex. He was later spotted again in the area and taken into custody.

Two armored SWAT vehicles were outside the complex as police searched for Gosik. There were still residents inside the complex and police said they told them to lock their doors and stay inside.

Gosik was believed to be involved a home invasion a couple days ago and that he took an unknown amount of guns and ammunition. Police haven't said exactly how many weapons they believe he may had, but they took the situation very seriously.

"He's wanted for multiple warrants throughout different jurisdictions, they vary. So right now we can tell you that he is armed and dangerous. We definitely want the community to be safe so we really need to arrest this guy. So if you see him, please call," Denver police spokesperson Raquel Lopez said before officers made the arrest.

Police not only had a full perimeter on the ground, they also had a helicopter that was monitoring the scene, trying to find any sight of Gosik.
