Escaped Inmate Captured, Will Be Sent Back To Prison
DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver caught up to an escaped inmate who walked away from a minimum security facility in Golden last month.
Kenneth Gomez was in the Colorado Correctional Center, a minimum level facility also known as Camp George West.
Gomez was working as a mechanic in the Colorado State Patrol Garage at the Colorado State Patrol Academy located on the grounds of Camp George West when he walked away in April.
Police in Denver caught up with Gomez on Friday at 51st and Sheridan in Denver. He was booked into the Denver Jail. Authorities said he will be sent back to prison.
What additional charges Gomez may be facing have not been announced.
Gomez was convicted out of Jefferson County in 2011 on charges of burglary and disturbing the public peace. Gomez was sentenced to five years on those charges.
He had been in and out of prison for the last 10 years for stealing cars and domestic assault.
