CU Football Players To Be Formally Charged

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Formal charges are expected to be filed Wednesday afternoon against two University of Colorado football players who allegedly knocked a man unconscious in a weekend brawl.

CU quarterback Jordan Webb and former CU offensive lineman Alexander Lewis are facing assault charges. Lewis also faces two counts of harassment.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports witnesses told police that 22-year-old Lee Bussey was knocked unconscious early Saturday when Lewis shoved his head into a brick wall. Both Lewis and Webb allegedly pushed him to the ground and punched him.

Lewis' attorney said at a hearing Monday that Bussey accosted Lewis, possibly because Lewis was wearing Nebraska Cornhuskers attire. Lewis announced Friday he plans to transfer to Nebraska.

Webb's attorney said the quarterback's role in the altercation was "non-criminal."
