Parcels Nominated For November Oil, Gas Lease Sale

CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management is considering whether to offer 11 parcels in Bent, Kiowa, Huerfano and Weld counties for oil and gas development.

The BLM has released a preliminary environmental assessment for potentially offering the parcels at a lease auction in November. The 11 parcels total about 2,500 acres of public mineral estate. One is largely within the Queens State Wildlife Area, and another is next to the Spanish Peaks Wilderness. The BLM says six parcels are in potential lynx habitat.

Of the nominated parcels, one is in Weld County, five are in Huerfano County, one is in Kiowa County and three are in Bent County.

The public has until June 3 to weigh in.
