Bear Spray Interferes With Robbery Investigation At Medical Marijuana Dispensary

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Boulder are having a difficult time investigating a robbery at a medical marijuana dispensary because the suspects sprayed bear spray during the crime.

Detectives are examining surveillance video which shows one suspect inside the Dandelion Dispensary located at 9th and Walnut in Boulder.

Witnesses told police two suspects dressed in black and wearing ski masks walked into the dispensary about 7 p.m.

Police believe one suspect may have acted as a lookout while the other person sprayed bear spray inside the dispensary as a distraction.

It is unclear how much, if any, marijuana or cash was taken from the dispensary.

One person was taken to the hospital with complications from the bear spray. Three others were treated at the scene.

It is unclear how many of those affected by the spray were employees or customers.

Police are searching for a black Pontiac Grand Prix that may have been used as a getaway vehicle.

Detectives said the bear spray is hampering the investigation because the residue left from the deterrent is making it difficult to examine the scene for evidence.
