Registered Sex Offender Found Dead In La Junta Home
LA JUNTA, Colo. (CBS4) - The Otero County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a registered sex offender as suspicious.
The body of Byron Griffy, 76, was found inside a home outside La Junta Friday night.
Griffy was a funeral home director in Fowler prior to his arrest in 2011 for sexually assaulting a child.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation. It's not clear why the death is being called suspicious or if it could have any ties to Griffy's sexual assault conviction.
The El Paso County Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy this week.
