GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — A Greeley construction company has been awarded defense contracts worth more than $215 million for two projects in Colorado.

The Defense Department said Tuesday that Hensel Phelps Construction Co. was awarded a contract worth nearly $117 million to build the Mountainview operations facility and chiller plant for military intelligence workers at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora.

Mountainview will provide new offices for some of the 3,500 military and civilian personnel who work in military intelligence at Buckley.

Hensel Phelps was also awarded a $98.7 million contract to build barracks at Fort Carson outside Colorado Springs for a new helicopter brigade. The 13th Combat Aviation Brigade will have up to 2,700 soldiers and 113 helicopters.

The Pentagon has awarded $172.6 million in construction contracts for the brigade since mid-August.
