Highway To Leadville Closes After Washout
LEADVILLE, Colo. (CBS4) - Heavy rain near Leadville forced the Colorado Department of Transportation to close Highway 24 near Tennessee Pass on Monday.
A sinkhole formed next to the highway south of Red Cliff in the morning, and investigators were studying the hole to see how large of a repair job they will be facing.
"At this time, there is no estimated time of reopening for the highway and motorists should use State Highway 91 as an alternative route," CDOT officials wrote in a prepared statement.
