Suspected Killer Of Denver Officer Faces First Degree Murder Charge

DENVER (CBS4) - Prosecutors have formally charged Rollin Oliver in the shooting death of Denver police officer Celena Hollis.

He is charged with one count of first-degree murder with extreme indifference. Oliver, 21, is accused of shooting Hollis in the head during a gang altercation at a City Park Jazz concert.

Investigators say Oliver fired multiple shots into the crowded area just as the concert was ending June 24.

Hollis died at the scene when a bullet struck her in the head. Police arrested Oliver at the scene and say he was armed at the time.

He is being held without bond at the Denver Detention Center and is due in court to be formally advised of the charges Thursday morning.

Hollis had been with the Denver Police Department for seven years and had worked with City Park Jazz as part of the security team since her arrival in Denver seven years ago.

Hollis' family donated her organs, and she leaves behind a 12-year-old daughter.
