Boring Is Best. Quick Fix Is Epic Fail.

B-O-R-I-N-G.

But when it comes to shedding some pounds, boring is precisely the diet plan you want to choose.

And if you're looking for the recipe for boring, think no more than walking more and eating less.

Researchers in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine followed more than 4,000 people for more than a year in their quest to trim their waistlines.

Those who followed fad diets, OTC diet aids, diet foods, liquid diet, and just plain crazy "miracle diets" were epic fails.

But those who followed the boring old advice of exercise more, and eat less lost an average of 15-30 pounds (and in many cases much more).

Those needing some companionship on their weight loss journey did well by taking part in structured programs such as Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig.

Bottom line: The magic bullet isn't anything more than getting off of the couch and chucking the chips from your grocery cart.
