Eric Decker, Hickenlooper Emphasize Importance Of Breakfast

DENVER (CBS4) - Gov. John Hickenlooper headed back to school on Friday to emphasize just how important breakfast is.

Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker joined the governor at Noel Community Arts School as part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 program.

Decker says it's really important to make sure kids know to eat right and be physically active so they can do well in school.

"It's important to give back to the next generation and tell them how important being physically active is and eating right -- eating breakfast -- so you get through the school day and have success," Decker said.

About 27 schools serve breakfast in the classroom to help kids.

Denver Public Schools will be kicking off National School Breakfast week next week. It emphasizes the importance of eating breakfast every day and making sure the foods students eat are rich in nutrients.
