Denver Sheriff's Deputy Accused Of Sexual Assault On Child

ARVADA (CBS4) - A Denver sheriff's deputy has been taken into custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a child.

Investigators accuse Jorge Quinones, 39, of fondling and groping a 13-year-old girl several times. Quinones says the only thing he did wrong was allowing the child to drive his car.

Quinones has been with the Denver Sheriff's Department For almost 4 years working as part of the honor guard.

"There's one count of sexual assault by a person in a position of trust," Susan Medina with the Arvada Police Department said.

According to court documents, on Dec. 29 Quinones took the girl to a King Soopers in Arvada. The girl told police in his car Quinones squeezed her hand. She pulled it away and that's when he allegedly put his hand on the upper part of her thigh.

On the way back to the girl's home she told police Quinones asked her if she wanted to drive and "he made me sit on his lap" as he controlled the brake and gas pedals. She said when they hit a speed bump, Quinones grabbed her breast. Then, when they parked, he hugged her from behind and grabbed them again.

"If an allegation is made, then were going to investigate that to the fullest, and that's what we did in this case," Medina said.

Police found pornographic videos belonging to Quinones. Some of them were labeled "teen girls" videos.

Quinones told police he might have brushed up against the girl but it wasn't "malicious or intentional."

It's unclear how Quinones and the teenager know each other.

"We don't want to talk about relationship, don't want to jeopardize her identity," Medina said.

Quinones lives with his adult daughter in Littleton. He's reportedly out of jail on bond.
