COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4) – All fracking operations may be put on hold for 6 months in Commerce City.

The city council will consider a moratorium to temporarily limit the process that extracts oil and gas from the ground. A spokeswoman says it will give the city time to review the impacts of fracking on air and groundwater.

The proposed moratorium comes after fracking operations began near the Reunion development last month. People in the area were upset they weren’t notified beforehand.

The operation is outside the city limits and would not be affected if the moratorium passes.

if you knew the effect that fracking could have on our air, water and land, don’t think you would be so self centered. Do a littlle investigating about what has happened in Pennsylvania and other States back East.

    It isn’t always about YOU.

When the price of gas goes up to $5.00 per gallon, the City Council may choose to reconsider their views on fracking.
