DENVER (CBS4) – Denver police would like the public’s help locating a suspect who attacked a 79-year-old woman and robbed her in a store parking garage.

Det. John White with Denver police said on Nov. 21 at about 4:20 p.m. the suspect knocked the woman down as she was entering the Macy’s store located at 15 South Steele Street. She was then seriously injured after being dragged outside of the entrance into the parking garage. The suspect got away with the woman’s purse.

He’s describes as a Hispanic man, 30 to 49 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot- 8, black hair, and clean-shaven.

Police believe the suspect was driving a silver SUV that may be a 1995 to 2004 silver Suzuki Grand Vitara or Chevy Tracker type/small SUV with matching silver plastic tire cover.

Old people are prime objects for robbery because they carry their Medicare cards containing their Social Security numbers. Colorado doesn’t allow insurers to use SS numbers for ID; why Medicare?

  2. BD says:

If this incident occurred on November 21, why did this item not come out until December 6?

Why does it take 2 weeks to send out a call for help from the community? Too little, too late. Law enforcement has botched this case.

The poor woman, I hope she gets over this, they didn’t say much about her. This story should have been about her and then the efforts to capture this animal. I can’t imagine being 79 and being attached and draged by someone else. ALL OUT EFFORTS should be put forth to catch this man ( i use the term man lightly). I hope you get better soon lady, don’t let the actions of someone else make you miserable, get help if you need it, I am sorry this happened to you, especially at your age. Be safe Mam!
