State Audit Shows Vet Nursing Homes Lost Money

DENVER (AP) - A state audit shows five Colorado nursing homes for veterans lost more than $1.5 million over five years.

Auditors said Tuesday there were no clear goals for keeping the nursing homes solvent.

According to the Denver Post, the Department of Human Services disagrees and says its capacity goals were adequate.

The nursing centers are located in Aurora, Florence, Monte Vista, Rifle and Trinidad. The state sold the home in Trinidad in February.
