Girl With Rare Infection Advised By Specialists At National Jewish
DENVER (CBS4)- A teenager from California did not need surgery after all to save her right hand from a rare infection. Hannele Cox, 13, cut her hand inside a fish tank five years ago.
The flesh-eating bacteria caused pain to shoot through her right arm and even attacked her bone. There were concerns she could lose her hand.
Hannele traveled to National Jewish Hospital in Denver to consult with specialists.
On Friday, doctors announced they did not find an active infection. Hannele will see a nerve specialist near her home in California to help with the pain.
