Climbing Teams Search For Missing Colorado Hikers

SALIDA, Colo. (AP) -- Chaffee County Sheriff Pete Palmer says it's a mystery why search teams have been unable to find two hikers who are missing on a hiking trip.

Climbing teams were searching for Michael Von Gortler and his 20 year-old daughter Makana on Missouri Mountain again on Friday.

Palmer says searchers have covered 800 square miles trying to find them. Authorities also examined their truck mileage and credit card records and found nothing suspicious.

Their family last heard from them on June 21.
