DENVER (CBS4) – Haley Sorenson packed her car to move to Los Angeles for the summer.  She knew exactly what she’ll be doing for her summer internship there, but she didn’t know what it would cost her to get there.

“It tells you exactly when you’ll run out of gas, how much the gas is and where you need to fill up,” Sorenson said.

The website has you put in the specifics of your road trip, as well as the year, make and model of your car. It then tells you how much you’ll spend on gas and where along your route you should stop and refuel to get the best gas prices.

More than 30,000 people use the site every month. The site’s creator, Jim Kovarik, says the feedback from drivers has been positive.

“We calculate the cost of driving along the route and we actually locate gas stations with the lowest prices along that route,” Kovarik said.

The site also has a pop-up which estimates how much the same trip would cost you if you flew. It estimates your carbon footprint as well.
