LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) – A 10-year-old boy has been arrested after shooting classmates with a BB gun Monday.

Lynn Setzer with Jefferson County Public Schools confirmed the boy brought a BB gun to Stein Elementary School in Lakewood and shot six of his classmates when the teacher wasn’t looking.

None of the students were seriously hurt. Parents came to school to check on their injured children. Only one parent ended up taking her child home.

Lakewood police were called and arrested the 4th grader.

The boy faces municipal assault and dangerous missile charges. The boy and his parents are due to appear in court in June.

The fact that the principal doesn’t even know how to write a proper letter indicates the level of education these kids are receiving.

They should give the kid a medal for interrupting a tedious indoctrination session and for teaching a more valuable lesson than whatever was being “taught” in class: that real life always carries risk. Well done, kid, don’t let ’em break your spirit. :)

Does the principal need a proofreader? Dear parents should be Dear Parents. Your student’s should be Your child’s. Teachers and schools have students. Parents have children.

I’m with Quint Palmer. I hope the boy doesn’t get away with a wrist slap.

I hope they don’t pat this little punk on the head and say, “poor baby. You couldn’t help herself'”, and then let him off scotfree. No, I hope he is prosecuted and that his father lays a whuppin’ down on this boy that he’ll never forget. Coddling isn’t going to get the job done.
