Newly released surveillance video from an airport in Utah shows what happened in July when a Colorado pilot jumped a perimeter fence and drove a commercial jet into a parking lot.
Authorities are trying to determine how a pilot suspected in a homicide was able to slip into a small Utah airport and steal an empty passenger plane that he drove into some cars. He was later found dead in an aisle of the aircraft with a gunshot wound to the head.
A spokeswoman for SkyWest airlines said Colorado Springs murder suspect Brian Hedglin, who killed himself Monday after stealing and then crashing a plane on a Utah runway, had been on leave since the day police found his girlfriend’s body.
