Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper said Tuesday there are initial talks with Western governors about sharing a regional aerial fleet to fight fires, although the idea is far from reality at the moment.
As fire rages in Southern California, most of Colorado has experienced a cool and very wet spring. The snowpack sits at about average for the northern two-thirds of the state.
The U.S. Forest Service now says the fire danger is high to extreme across most of Colorado.
The change in the weather including the arrival of snow helped firefighters completely contain the Lower North Fork fire and lowered the fire danger from extreme to low in just 24 hours.
