Officials at the High Park Fire on Sunday night reported that there have been 57 more homes lost to the fire, bringing the total to 248.
Firefighters have given up some ground to a wildfire that has scorched more than 118 square miles in northern Colorado and destroyed at least 191 homes.
Fire crews took advantage of the cooler weather and higher humidity on Wednesday and Thursday in the fight against the High Park Fire burning west of Fort Collins.
It’s been a trying few weeks for Darrell Schoenig and his family after having to evacuate from the High Park Fire twice.
It’s been nine days since the High Park Fire started, and more than 1,700 personnel are involved. That includes firefighters from many different departments in Colorado.
On Wednesday there were about 1,000 firefighters on the scene of the High Park Fire and CBS4’s Ty Brennan got a chance to see where they live when they’re not on the front lines of the fire.
Officials have called off evacuations in more areas around the High Park Fire Wednesday afternoon, but put another area back on pre-evacuation orders.
Officials at the High Park Fire in Larimer County say the cost of the fire has now reached $3 million and by Tuesday night they had it 10 percent contained.
