Denver – (July 10, 2017) — Xcel Energy and CBS4 have teamed up to raise awareness for the seventh annual Day of Service, where more than 3600 volunteers assist with nearly 70 community projects across Colorado. The 2017 Day of Service will take place from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9 and volunteers may begin registering July 17, 2017.

“This is a wonderful partnership for us and we invite our viewers to join in and help make the neighborhoods where we live, work and play even better,” CBS4 General Manager Walt DeHaven said. “Online registration is easy and it requires only a three hour volunteer time commitment.”

Volunteers provide a helping hand to a wide variety of worthy organizations with tasks including cooking, painting, planting and seeding, making blankets and trail restoration. Participating organizations include nonprofits across the state such as Colorado Feeding Kids, Pueblo Zoo, several local United Ways, Denver Parks and Recreation, Keystone Science School, the Humane Society of South Platte Valley and more!

“This day is something I look forward to every year,” said Jerome Davis, regional vice president of Xcel Energy-Colorado. “It’s incredible to see Xcel Energy employees and our customers work side by side to support the great works of these organizations. The event continues to grow every year and as a company we are grateful we have a way to give back to the communities we serve.”
