Popular Camping Spot May Require Permits Due To Overcrowding

ASPEN, Colo. (CBS4) - A plan to solve overcrowding at a popular camping spot isn't sitting well with some people.

The U.S. Forest Service is considering making campers get permits to stay at the Conundrum Hot Springs near the Maroon Bells.

Colton Johnson of Lakewood took this photo in late September at Conundrum Hot Springs and wrote that the photo shows "enjoying fall colors."

The Aspen Times reports a Boulder man has filed a protest, which could force the Forest Service to sit down and negotiate.

The Forest Service wants the permit system to start next summer.
