The arrival of Spring also signifies the arrival of one of Denver’s most favorite holidays. St. Patrick’s Day is Friday, March 17 this year, which means you can plan the partying and revelry so that it continues well into the weekend. Thankfully, from the always-popular annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, to the many bars and restaurants that have specials on beer and corned beef, there is no shortage of fun ways to celebrate the holiday. If you’re new to town, or just looking for a great place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, here are five of the area’s best.
1735 19th St.
Denver, CO 80202
When it comes to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, Fado Irish Pub is the biggest and the best in town. The large bar, located right next to Coors Field, is always hopping, but when the big day rolls around on the calendar, Fado’s becomes the premier destination for all the green-wearing, Guinness-drinking, St. Patrick’s Day revelers around. On the day itself, you can expect plenty of drink specials, live music, dancers, entertainment and more at Fado’s. Plus, this local establishment often hosts family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day activities during the day on St. Patrick’s Day weekend, so be sure to check the website for all the St. Patrick’s Day fun as it’s announced.
1201 E. Colfax Ave.
Denver, CO 80216
Swing by this popular bar on East Colfax for plenty of green beer and lots of St. Patrick’s Day fun. Fill up on tasty dishes like Corned Beef Egg Rolls, classic Corned Beef and Cabbage, Shepherds Pie, a traditional Irish breakfast or even a dish of locally made Guinness Ice Cream. Of course, you’ll also find plenty of Irish Drafts and lots of great drink specials, plus this always hopping Irish-style pub is sure to have lots of great St. Patrick’s Day events to celebrate the occasion. There is a reason USA Today listed The Irish Snug in Denver as one of the best places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the country, so swing by on the big day to see why that is for yourself.
54 S. Broadway
Denver, CO 80209
This comfortable local pub is known for its selection of Celtic brews and whiskey so it should be no surprise that it’s always a great place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a few hundred of your closest friends. The rooftop patio also offers great views of the city as you enjoy the perfect Spring weather. Or you can head inside to take advantage of the plentiful (and traditional) Irish pub comfort foods, like Shepherds Pie, Irish Stew and Bangers and Mash. Get a pint of classic Irish Red Ale, listen to the music of local bagpipers and celebrate the holiday at the Irish Rover Pub in style.
1429 Market St.
Denver, CO 80202
One of the best places to celebrate the holiday simply has to be Denver’s oldest Irish Pub. You won’t find any green beer here. Instead, you’ll find plenty of thick black beer along with Irish dancers, bagpipers, corned beef sandwiches and lots of fun in the outdoor tent. You won’t find a lot of other bells and whistles here – just classic Irish food, classic Irish beer and plenty of great company to ring in the holiday. It’s a more low-key St. Patrick’s Day than some of the other, newer pubs in town, but it’s the perfect way to celebrate the occasion.
