Mother Arrested, 2-Year-Old Left Alone In Vehicle In Subzero Temps

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4)- A woman was arrested after her toddler was found alone inside a vehicle during Saturday's subzero temperatures.

Police in Thornton were asked by Westminster police to search for a 2013 green Ford Fusion somewhere in the area of the 10000 block of N. Washington to the 12000 block of N. Washington Street about 10:40 a.m.

Officers say the suspect called police to search for the car that she said had been involved in an accident.

About noon, officers located the Ford Fusion in a parking space in the commercial center located in the 900 block of E. 120th Avenue. Officers said the vehicle had not been in an accident.

The vehicle was covered in snow. Officers located the 2-year-old boy inside the vehicle.

The child was suffering from hypothermia and frost bite and rushed to the hospital.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the child being left alone inside the vehicle and how long the child was left alone.

The child's mother, Nicole Carmon, 26, has been arrested for investigation of felony child abuse.
