Teachers At Charter School Criticized For Dress Code Enforcement

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A charter school is investigating the actions of some of its teachers.

Girls at James Irwin Charter High School in Colorado Springs say they were pulled out of class and lectured about the dress code. The teachers allegedly told some of them their pants were too tight and one even grabbed students' clothing to check.

Students say they felt violated.

"Another girl asked, 'Why does this matter?' … They said that's it's distracting to the boys. Which doesn't make sense because they're just legs," junior Hanna Fisher said.

"They basically regarded the entire boy population at our school as perverts. To me that's extremely unnecessary," senior Victor Gonzalez said.

The school's top administrator says the boys weren't taken out of class because there wasn't enough time and that most of the dress code infractions involved girls.

The principal sent a letter to parents apologizing for the teachers' actions.
