Structure Fire Starts Brush Fire In Adams County

WATKINS, Colo. (CBS4) - A burning building started a brush fire in Adams County on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire broke out at a structure in the 4000 block of Imboden Road near Watkins just before 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Copter4 flew over the fire that showed flames burning the remnants of a building and another structure on fire. A vehicle was also destroyed in the fire.

That fire had spread to nearby grass, brush, trees and bales of hay.

What caused the fire remains under investigation but it was estimated at 50 to 60 acres.

Fire crews from multiple agencies responded to the fire.

"I was scared to death," neighbor Ron Robson said. "I thought his house was going to be next and then of course I'm right here and I was going to be next."

Three people were hurt in the fire. Their injuries were described as being minor, and they declined medical treatment.
