Kids Blamed For House Fire That Spread To Nearby Brush

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Emergency officials in Colorado Springs blame a group of kids for starting a house fire that got out of control.

Police say the kids were setting things on fire inside an abandoned home. That's when the fire got out of control and caused a small brush fire.

Fire officials say the incident could've been worse given the dry weather.

"Today's conditions were dry, but we don't have the winds today, so we were fortunate. The fire didn't spread quickly and we were able to get lines around up," a fire official said.

The kids made it out of the home okay.

The house was destroyed but was slated to be taken down.

It's not clear if the kids will be charged.
